Why is my rent increasing?
MSV’s rents are set using government guidelines, which means some customers will see an increase in their rent from 1 April 2025.
You will receive a letter from MSV in February outlining your new rent.
If you also pay a service charge, any changes to this amount will be detailed in your letter.
How is my rent increase calculated?
Most customers will receive a 2.7% increase in their rent from 1 April 2025.
This increase is calculated using the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from September 2024 (1.7%), plus an additional 1%.
We always strive to keep increases to a minimum, but it’s important we continue to maintain and improve homes and deliver high-quality services.
What is the Consumer Price Index?
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is a measure of inflation, reflecting changes in the cost of everyday goods and services over time.
I receive Universal Credit, so how will this affect me?
You don’t need to submit a new claim with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
From 1 April, Universal Credit will prompt you in your journal to confirm your new rent and service charge. Simply update the details using the information in your rent letter.
Do I have to adjust my direct debit with my bank?
No, your direct debit will be adjusted automatically, and you will receive a notification from Allpay once this has been processed.
