Heads Up! Don't Miss Your Universal Credit Deadline

You need to move to Universal Credit if you’ve received a Migration Notice letter, as one or more of your benefits will be ending soon

  • There's a deadline to switch to Universal Credit which will be highlighted in your letter. If you miss it, you might lose extra money you're getting now, like disability benefits. This could mean hundreds of pounds less per month!
  • To keep these extras, make your Universal Credit claim before the deadline.
  • If you’ve applied for Universal Credit, you’ll keep getting your current benefit paid for 2 more weeks. This only applies if you’re getting: Housing Benefit, Income Support, ESA or JSA. Please note if you claim tax credits, your entitlement will end as soon as you make a claim to Universal Credit.
  • You can also apply for an advance to cover you until your first Universal Credit payment.
  • Switching to Universal Credit means you'll need to reapply for council tax support separately.
