Celebrating #StartsAtHome Day!

Starts at Home Day, led by the National Housing Federation (NHF), is a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of supported housing and advocating for better funding and support for this vital service. It’s a chance to celebrate the positive impact of supported housing on our communities across the country, and to ensure supported housing is recognised as an invaluable part of the housing, health, social care and criminal justice systems.

We chatted to Colin, a resident at Vincent Court about his experience:-

Colin’s life took a positive turn when he moved to Vincent Court over three years ago. Previously living in an area affected by antisocial behaviour, he was recommended to Vincent Court by a friend. Since then, he has found a supportive and welcoming community that has significantly improved his quality of life.

One of the things Colin appreciates most about Vincent Court is the sense of community. He has already made a few friends and enjoys participating in the various activities offered, such as music nights, lunches, and coffee mornings. Additionally, Vincent Court has a lovely shared garden that all residents can enjoy.

Colin said “The staff at Vincent Court are more like friends.  They are always approachable and try to help when they can.”  He feels this supportive atmosphere has contributed to his overall well-being.

Colin’s experience highlights the positive impact that supportive housing can have on individuals' lives. By providing safe, affordable, and inclusive living environments, Vincent Court has created a community where residents can thrive and build meaningful relationships.
