Weather Warning for Manchester

Tuesday, 19 January 2021

The Met Office has issued an Amber warning for heavy rain and possible flooding from Tuesday to Thursday as Storm Christoph is expected to hit Manchester.

Significant rainfall is expected through until Thursday which could lead to flooding in some areas. This might bring some localised flooding in places and the Environment Agency are working hard across the city, particularly in areas of higher risk and our river banks.

We have been making preparations in advance and our teams are on standby to deal with any issues. Manchester City Council is ensuring gullies are clear in hot spot areas and monitoring weather updates.

For flood warnings see the Environment Agency website. Check river levels at the Flood Information Service. Or call Floodline on 0345 988 1188 using quick dial code 143116. For our latest updates.

Check on your neighbours

Have a check on your neighbours to make sure they are OK, some may be unable to go out or need a bit of help, especially as we are in lockdown.
